PRE-LEAP-RE consortium organized its first strategic workshop in Brussels on Thursday, 6 and Friday, 7 December 2018. More than a hundred stakeholders in the field of renewable energy from Europe and Africa have gathered to discuss and exchange on the future agenda for Research & Innovation, as well as Capacity building of the Africa-EU partnership and collaboration on renewable energy.
The participants were informed about the results of the PRE-LEAP-RE Ecosystem Analysis as well as the steps undertaken towards the conceptualization and planning of the envisaged European Joint Programming (EJP) LEAP‐RE. The stakeholders’ active participation, feedback and inputs towards the first drafts of the research & innovation agenda, as well as the Human and Institutional Capacity Building agenda of the EJP will be utilized to and further frame the joint programme set the foundation for future collaborative AU-EU activities in the field of renewable energy (RE)
Efi Bakogianni, representing KiNNO who is a partner of PRE-LEAP-RE, participated in the workshop discussions and presented the key outcomes and recommendations drawn by the stakeholders participating in the “Studies for needs on Renewable Energy” Research and Innovation (R&I) Pathways.
PRE-LEAP-RE is a project funded by the European Union and will prepare, with African and European partners, a joint programme for research in the area of renewable energy, LEAP-RE.
Within fourteen months, PRE-LEAP-RE will prepare a European Joint Programme (EJP). It will set the foundation for future collaborative African Union-European Union activities in the field of renewable energy (RE). This project forms the basis for long-term African-European collaboration in RE and will contribute to a better understanding of the AU-EU ecosystem.
