KiNNO together with EIT InnoEnergy and the ΝΒG Business Seeds program of the National Bank of Greece organised a 2-day event that combined a preparatory bootcamp. After a selection process, nine energy and cleantech startups from Central, east and south Europe (Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey) were invited to participate in the event, where they had the opportunity to learn what it means to set up a business in Greece, practice their presentation and pitch in front of the Venture Capital (VC) Funds, created under EquiFund. EquiFund is an initiative of the Hellenic Republic in cooperation with the European Investment Fund, offering pre-seed and seed investment to startups outside of Greece, willing to set up a branch in Greece.
During the first day the event included the following workshops:
• Greek Legislation Workshop - Prokopis Dimitriadis, Partner, LL.M. mult. (Cambridge, Athens), Lambadarios Law Firm
• Tax Issues Workshop - Konstantinos Poulios, Tax Director, Grant Thornton
• Enterprise Greece - Nikos Stamou, Investment Promotion Directorate
The 1st day also included a presentation of the Greek EIF Funds and a preparatory session for pitching.
The selected startups pitched in from of the Greek VC funds created under equifund. The following funds were present:
Apart from the VC funds, representatives from important companies and organization were present including the HUB of Climate-KIC in Greece, the HUB of EIT Health in Greece, the Public Gas Corporation of Greece A.E and the The Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator.
KiNNO Consultants LTD together with EIT InnoEnergy and ΝΒG Business Seeds program of the National Bank of Greece have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a cooperation that will investigate synergies between actions and initiatives organized by InnoEnergy in Greece and similar actions carried out by the Bank, aiming to encourage the growth of young entrepreneurship and innovation in the energy sector.
