Athens, Paving the Way for Cooperation under the European Territorial Cooperation Programmes 2014-2020


The programming period 2014 - 2020 is already in force and the European Territorial Cooperation Programmes have been officially launching calls for proposals, mainly focusing on a set of key thematic priorities, covering the new design of the European Cohesion Policy and the targets of the Europe 2020 towards Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive Growth:

  • Research and Innovation
  • Information and Communication technologies
  • Competitiveness of SMEs
  • Low-carbon economy
  • Combating climate change
  • Environment and resource efficiency
  • Sustainable transport
  • Social inclusion

KiNNO has been already successfully involved in the preparation of proposals focusing on the thematic of Priority Axis 1 – Innovation and has also been implementing several new projects such as:

- “PROteuS– Promoting security and safety by creating a MED cluster on Maritime Surveillance (MED programme 2014 -2020, 1st Call for Modular Projects)

- “PELAGOS– Promoting innovative nEtworks and cLusters for mArine renewable energy synerGies in mediterranean cOasts and iSlands (MED programme 2014 -2020, 1st Call for Modular Projects)

- “NEORION– Promotion of green maritime technologies and new materials to enhance sustainable shipbuilding in Adriatic Ionian Region (Adriatic-Ionian Programme 2014 -2020, 1st Call for Project Proposals)

- “SUPER-LNG– SUstainability PERformance of LNG-based maritime mobility (Adriatic-Ionian Programme 2014 -2020, 1st Call for Project Proposals)

- "FOCUS" - Strengthening competitiveness of agri-food SMEs through transnational Clusters (Balkan - MED Programme, 1st Call for Project Proposals)


In accordance with the European priorities for the Territorial Cooperation, the past experience and know-how across all four types of innovation (product, process, organizational and marketing) and the valuable knowledge and expertise possessed in the Smart Specialization Strategies of the participating regions, the focus of KiNNO for the new programming period will mainly target to:

  • Support the connection and linkages among actors from the whole value chain of Innovation of the Quadruple Helix Model (RTOs, Intermediaries, Business Parks, Clusters and Networks, Consortia, SMEs and citizens)
  • Enhance networking and promotion of Cluster and Network initiatives with a main focus in R&D and Innovation activities in key market sectors
  • Encourage and strengthen Entrepreneurs, Start-ups, SMEs with Innovative and Extroverted orientation and capacity
  • Facilitate the access to and strengthen Research, Innovation and technology development
  • Foster Technological and Knowledge Transfer and Commercialization bridging the gap between Research and Innovation
  • Facilitate the access of SMEs, Businesses and citizens to novel ICT based services and applications that will enhance Smart growth
