Syros Island, Workshop 'ICT and Regional Development in Syros Island'

Over the last decades, due to the Internet revolution, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) have to compete into a global digital economy context. By taking into account the recently developed “WEB 2.0 boom”, KiNNO Consultants LTD. in cooperation with the Decentralised Administration Authority of the Aegean and EXELIXIS Consultants, organized a two-day event “ICT and Regional Development” which took place in Syros Island, Greece, on the 26th and 27th October of 2011.

The event was organized within the framework of the European project “EVITA - Exchange, Valorisation and Transfer of regional best policy measures for SME support on IT and e-business Adoption” and aimed at raising awareness about the project to local stakeholders as well as to introduce and train local SMEs to the use of EVITA’s online training platform.

In the event Associate Bodies, competent stakeholders from local public and private organisations as well as general public were invited. During the 1st day of the event, participants were informed about the project and more specifically about the opportunities and benefits that affect SMEs and regional development from the use of ICT. The 2nd day of the event, was dedicated to the training of local SMEs on the use EVITA’s online training platform and on sensitization about the benefits which SMEs gain through “digital” marketing.
