 KICkoff Regional Pitching Competition – Greece (Application deadline 10th of June)

Start you journey with the Greek Regional Pitching competition.

The finalists of the Regional Competition had the opportunity to take part in a 2 day pitch workshop during which, with the help of mentors and coaches, they prepared for the Regional Final, where they pitched their ideas in front of a Jury panel. The Regional Final was held at Orange Grove premises, Leoforos Vasileos Konstantinou 5, Athens, on Friday 15th of July 2016 at 18:00. 

Two startups won a place among the other regional winners and some of the most promising stars of the European sustainable energy market in CEE from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia that will compete in the Final in Warsaw.

KIC InnoEnergy had announced the Call for Applications. The deadline for submission of ideas was the 10th of June 2016 (extended).

 Greece KICkoff - Results

The Greek Regional Final of the KICkoff 2016 competition, was successfully completed on the 15th of July 2016 at the premises of Orange Grove, where 9 finalists presented their business ideas in front of the jury of the competition and the audience.

A considerable number of applications were evaluated, before these 9 teams were selected, which had the opportunity to attend a two-day preparatory workshop.

The winning ideas were “Drywall Integrated Supercapacitors” proposed by Pleione Energy and “Solar Energy in Building Heating and Cooling” proposed by Lighthouse Solar.

 KICkoff Final - September 20th, Warsaw

The KICkoff Competition 2016 was successfully completed in September 2016 in Warsaw, Poland.

A two day boot camp preceded the Finals, during which teams, deriving from the Local Semi-finals across 12 CEE countries, developed their projects and pitched in front of energy market experts and investors.

Over 200 people attended the Finals on the 20thof September 2016 – organized by KIC InnoEnergy, the innovation engine for Europe’s energy industry - and watched the 10 finalists present their sustainable energy ideas and compete, in front of the jury of the competition. During the award ceremony, KIC InnoEnergy announced the 3 winners of the competition.

PolarSol, from Estonia,won the first place, claiming the prize of 10.000 € and access to the KIC InnoEnergy Highway® business accelerator, presenting their proposal for​​an autonomous solar heating system. The second place, with the prize of €5,000, went to the Greek start-up Pleione SA, who presented their idea for Drywall-integrated supercapacitors, while the third place went to the GreenerGizer from Hungary, winning 3,000 € for their solution which reduces the energy consumption of refrigerator units. Bin-e (Poland) received an audience award, with its proposal for waste management in smart buildings.
